Recently we told you the inspiring story of Hercules and Muellas, two dogs who had each other's backs after being surrendered to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control. Hercules, a pit bull mix, looks after his little buddy, Muellas, a Rat Terrier mix who is blind. The two made it clear early on that they didn't want to be separated, both acting depressed and less confident when apart.

But now they don't have to be. Both dogs went home to a loving family in Ohio who had seen the pair on television.

The animal-welfare organization was holding out to find the right fit for the pair, but even though the dogs were getting a lot of attention in the media, people didn't seem interested in bringing them home. Then came the last-minute miracle when Wilson Family from Antwerp, Ohio, walked in the door. "The dogs were in love, and they were in love," reports Jodi Hamilton of FWACC.

Both dogs were also very gentle and playful with the family's children, making careworkers confident this was a good match. One could just look at Hercules and Muellas to see that they agreed.

"The dogs knew they were going home," says Hamilton. "You could see their personalities lift."

"The staff were all in tears."
